Cant Z1007bis MM22144 CAI
A recent publication says this aircraft was accidently shot down by German Flak over Frankfurt during the withdrawl from Belgium (January 41? ), another source says lost on the flight to Belgium in September 1940. Are anymore details known on the loss of this aircraft and its crew, please,

Re: Cant Z1007bis MM22144 CAI
The only CZ.1007bis lost by the CAI crashed on take off from Frankfurt on 11 january 1941 following engine problems, killing two of the crewmembers and badly injuring the other three. According to the new book "La Regia Aeronautica nella Battaglia di Inghilterra" published in may this year by the Italian Air Force historical Office, the MM was 22148 (and not 22144 as previously stated in various publications).
The crash happened during the withdrawal of the CAI from Belgium. Gianandrea |
