Re: B17 crew member washed up on Kent Coast Nov 43, WHO DAT - DING BAT
I assume you have seen the statement in the MACR, but for the rest of us, I attached it.
What is sad is that the bodies were found on 15th December and they had been dead for only a little more than 24 hours according to the police statement. Thus they survived for about 2 weeks. |

Was WHO DAT - DING BAT the name of the aircraft?

The plane, 42-37874, is not named in the MACR. It is only referred to by serial number.
There are other references that give it that name, such as Osborne's "B-17 Fortress Master Log" and Joe Baugher's serial number website. |

Re: B17 crew member washed up on Kent Coast Nov 43, WHO DAT - DING BAT
Guys,
Really sorry I have not been in touch as been away for abit. Great and thanks for the MACR exactly what I am after! The B17 was named as above, it was not their normal B17, Belle of the Blue was the normal aircraft flown. Thanks again, Danny
