Re: Mosquito 333 (Norw.) Sqdn Missing
Pavel
Everybody interested in Coastal Mosquitos and 333Sqn should purchase the smashing "Profiles in Norway" monograph on 333Sqn by Kjetil Korsnes and Bengt Stangvik http://proinor.no/flyhistorie-profil...nr-6-mosquito/ For me it has the best set of photos of Coastal Mosquitos in any book I know. It seems to me that the information you quote on RS524 is wrong but Air Britain has the same details. The book provides details of operations by 333Sqn on 26 December 1944 but does not report any losses from 333Sqn. In an appendix listing Mosquitos VI on charge to the sqn RS524 is listed as transferred to 235 Sqn on 13 December 1944. Presumably this did not get recorded on the Form 78. Steve |

Re: Mosquito 333 (Norw.) Sqdn Missing
I think that this Mosquito was lost with a 235 Sqn crew, Flying Officer Ernest James Fletcher and Flying Officer Alfred James Watson, both commemorated this day on the Runnymede Memorial.

Re: Mosquito 333 (Norw.) Sqdn Missing
Only one Mosquito was lost on 26 December 1944, RS524/G of No. 235 Sqn. It was either a victim of flak or German fighter aircraft. Several other Mosquitos were damaged.
Ref: AIR 27/1444, AIR 25/381, AIR 25/446, AIR 28/49. PS! Steve, thanks for the nice words. All the best, Bengt |
