LW bomber in Turkey - 16.7.1942

On or just before 16 July 1942 a twin-engined German bomber made an emergency landing at Trabzon on the Turkish coast of the Black Sea, I read in a newspaper of that time.
Aircraft apparently on a recce mission to the Caucasus region (Operation Edelweiss to capture the oil fields had gone underway then).

Crew was interned.

Who has more info about the aircraft and/or crew involved?

Regards,

Leendert

The Fernaufkl. Staffeln flying in that area in July 1942 were:

4.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 122
2.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. Ob.d.L.
1.(F)/Nacht

I checked my data for these 3 but without results.

I have vague recollections of a Ju 88 landing in Turkey in July 1942 or possibly July 1943 with a defecting Romanian crew aboard. There is a CSDIC interrogation report on the incident.

430650 "Yellow 1" was in July 1943, but they flew to Cyprus. In 1942 Romania did not have Ju 88´s, that may then have been other type.

Thanks, Ed! I guess my "vague" recollection was a little "vaguer" than I thought. I remember it now. That Romanian crew provided CSDIC with a great deal of intelligence on the Romanian Air Force. There were several other aircraft that intentionally flew to Turkey including 1 or 2 Romanian crews and at least 1 Croatian, but probably in 1943-44.

As a side note, The ex-Romanian Ju 88 is on display at the USAF Museum in Dayton Ohio wearing Romanian colors.

The Cyprus Ju 88 D-1 belonged to the Romanian 2d Long-Range Reconnaissance Squadron based at Mariupol/West from where it flew post-raid damage assessment missions for the I Romanian Air Corps that was attached to Luftflotte 4. Here is the CSDIC report on this that I mentioned earlier:
CSDIC 314 (M.E.)/1943.
