Karl Patin

Does anyone have any information on Karl Patin? I am not sure if he is related in some way to an Albert Patin, who was a member of the Lilienthal-Gesellschaft für Luftfahrtforschung in 1938 - I believe. Or whether he was a member of the family which developed the Patin auto-pilot system. Some sources quote him as making a test flight in the Me 264 from Memmingen on 26 June 1944, for climbing trials. Was he a test pilot?

Thanks any assistance.

Re: Karl Patin

Hi Robert,

I think that this is a mix-up of information.
As far as I know Karl Baur tested the aircraft during that time and the Patin system kept failing during these flights.

So the flight on 26 June 1944 was probably carried out by Karl Baur and the Patin system probably gave problems again.

On the other hand in the book "A Pilot's Pilot Karl Baur" by Isolde Baur on page 116 the following statement is made regarding the Me 264:
"A final test report was dated 6 June 1944." This could be an indication that Baur stopped testing the Me 264 after this date or that the information of the June 26 flight was not useful to this report or that the report was finished before June 26?
