Re: Nice Me 262

Thank you unikum,

Wow, what a nice photo of a totally-new-to-me Me262A-1a. The caption says that this aircraft was shot down by Soviet fighters in, I assume, Czechoslovakia.

Hopefully, one of our Me262 mavens will be able to tell us more about its Werknummer, unit, and Karoband colors.

Re: Nice Me 262

Hi,
it maybe a KG(J) 54 aircraft. I think I see the dead head emblem forward of the cockpit.

Regards,

Norbert

Re: Nice Me 262

The Reichsverteidigungs band painted around the rear fuselage might have been chequered red and black. If so, this would be a KG(J)/6 aircraft. Not saying that it is not there, but I cannot discern the death's head emblem in front of the cockpit.

Sinisa

Re: Nice Me 262

A rare and most interesting photo!

Sid is correct in identifying this Me262 - "Black 11" - as a KG(J) 6 machine, specifically from the 8. Staffel. The werknummner looks to read "1125??" and the camouflage scheme fits this series. It would be nice to get a location and complete werknummer.

Thanks for sharing this with us Unikum!

Cheers,

David

Re: Nice Me 262

I don't know..normally I am not the one to say this, but somehow this photo looks like a fake. How the "11" stands out, some strange lighting conditions here and there (IMHO), rare fuselage band plus rare unit emblem, both perfectly visible... I might be wrong, but I have seen my share of photos and "fake" was my first thought when I saw this one..

Re: Nice Me 262

Thank you ChristianK I'm in agreement now that I looked closer at the photo. If it is indeed a KG(J) 6 Karoband then the cross on the fuselage looks like it is red than? Seems like the same color.

Regards,
Norbert

Re: Nice Me 262

Hello,

A Me 262 "Black 1" from KG(J) 6 is showed on the decals from the eagle editions:

https://www.eagle-editions.com/eagle...-j-detail.html

Maybe if someone have a picture of this plane ( black 1 ), we can do a comparison with black 11.

Thanks,

Lumabe.
