FW-190 A-6, April 13th 1944
Good evening !
Does anyone know the the individual number on his FW 190 A-6, when he bellylanded on April 13th, 1944 near Steffeln/Germany by a NVLM ?. Thank you ! Horst Weber |

Being a non-native English speaker, I will give it a try. Perhaps the query in Post No.1 was meant to read something like this...

Sorry, my typing was too fast. The name if the pilot is Uffz. Karl Dehsbesehl, 6./JG 26.
Donald Caldwell gives in his 2nd book this individual a/c number as "yellow 7". Does this number agree with the number in the NVLM or, if available, the number in the Generalquartiermachermeister reports ? Thank you ! Horst Weber |

that was Fw 190A-6 WNr. 470236 from 6./JG 26, the colour of the fuselage number "7+-" was brown as usual for this Staffel.

If you check Caldwell's JG 26 War Diary vol 2 on page 246 and 533 and look at Uffz Dehsbesell, he stated WNr 470236 and brown 7. Just curious on which pages you have been looking...., or do you refer to some other book by Caldwell? Cheers Stig |

The second primary source for Luftwaffe losses are "Generalquartiermachermeistermeldungen Abteilung 6", which covered all Luftwaffe material losses. Unfortunately, those are incomplete and missing from beginning of 1944 up to Jan. 1945. All serious authors used those sources for their books, Caldwell as well. But by writing books, mistakes can happen by various reasons, like misspelling, count-revolving or bad legibility. Now I received new information about the Dehsbesell case. Unfortunately, I'm not in the possession of his NVLM. Ordering it is not so easy in Germany as before by data-safty purposes. So you try the easy way and ask people you know, who are possible in in the possession of the primary file. When a conformation from anybody in the possession of Dehsbesell's NVLM comes, that his a/c was "yellow 7", everything is clear, Caldwell was right and I have to move to the second trace, according my new information. I don't follow you since you don't answer my question. I know already what you say, but I was only curious, since you refer to one of Caldwell's books, making a statement he identifies the aircraft only as 'Yellow 7'. Since I checked what Caldwell says in his vol 2 he never says anything about a yellow 7 and also identifies the aircraft with both a correct WNr and a correct marking, brown 7. So again in which book by Caldwell do you read about a yellow 7?? No big deal Horst, but if it is in another of Caldwell's books I would like to know. Cheers Stig |
