Laurent Rizzotti will become famous soon enough
Sergente Maggiore Ezio Iacone, 70a Squadriglia, 23o Gruppo

Hello,

The pilot above was shot down during the battles over Malta on 19 January 1941 and baled out of his CR.42 north of Valetta, according to my sources (books).

The same sources are unclear of his final fate. His name appears on a Italian POW list available online, but the same list actually contains names of killed airmen, and no fate is given for Iacone.

For me, north of Valetta means probably over the sea, so if he survived he was probably picked up by an ASR launch.

Can someone confirm the fate of this pilot ?

Thanks in advance
