Wing commander Patrick DC Street DSC
This RNVR pilot seems to have missed off the TOE list. According to my research he made two claims with 882 Squadron (an He111 and SM79) during the Torch landings in 1942, and another with 1839 Squadron in 1945. He is even more unusual because he is another pilot who made claims against German, Italian and Japanese aircraft. His last victory, according to Ray Sturtivant's work on the FAA was a Jill on 4.5.45 although there's some doubt given that I can find only one Jill claimed by the BPF on that date, but 1839 appear to have shot down two?

Correction - the Savoia came while flying with 806 Squadron during Pedestal!

Re: Wing commander Patrick DC Street DSC
Hi Keith,
I assume that the RAF rank "Wing Commander" was a slip of the keyboard. According to the Navy List for 1945 and the DSC citation in the London Gazette, Street held the rank of Temp. Lt. (A) in 1945. This would not be the first case of someone who apparently could have been included in Those Other Eagle but was not. I have many more examples. One of our friends on this forum suggested starting a thread devoted to that subject, but I never got around to doing so. For the record, and forgive me if you already have this info, his full name was Patrick Dennis Collins Street, born 1922 in Reading, Berkshire. Let me ask you, was his claim for the Jill on April 5 or May 4? Also was the serial and code of the Hellcat he was flying listed by Sturtivant? Cheers, Tom |

Re: Wing commander Patrick DC Street DSC
No slip. He appears in the London Gazette as a Squadron leader in 1957 and then Wing Commander RAF, Retiring from RAF in 1963 so I assume he transferred post-war.
His Hellcat was JV115. The victory was claimed on 04.05.1945. |

Re: Wing commander Patrick DC Street DSC
Thanks, Keith, for the clarification and the Hellcat serial number. I'm still not sure whether 04.05.45 is in d/m/y or m/d/y format, although I assume it might be the former.
Cheers, Tom |

Re: Wing commander Patrick DC Street DSC
No probs. It was on 4th May 1945. No claims were made by the BPF on 5th April.
