Bf109E-3 3523 - Any more info?

Well it has been a few years since 3523 was recovered and has now been sold on - not sure who to.

We have all of the history for early 1942 and the final loss on 4th April 1942. It was built in Sept 1939 and we have no idea of its service during 1940-41.

Has anyone any more info on 3523 during Battle of France, Battle of Britian or even Barbarossa?

Must have been somewhere. The airframe strip down after 18 months service removed all previous history.

Anything out there?

regards

Mark

Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-1 at Planes of Fame Museum in Chino
We take a walk around a remarkable Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-1, upgraded to E-7/ E3 / E4 ? standards, just arrived on 21 June 2010 at the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino. This aircraft was recovered from Russia, and still shows evidence of at least three camouflage schemes it wore during its eventful service until it was shot down over the Russian Front. By the way, after recording this video I checked the data plate and confirmed that the Werknummer was 3523 (the chipped second digit on the fin looked like a 3 but it was actually a 5). Subsequent research also revealed that the radio code is CS+AJ. This aircraft was flown by Leutnant Wulf-Dietrich Widowitz, attached to 5./JG 5, and force landed near Petsamo after combat on 4 April 1942.
