Seeking source for photo of 4./KG53 photo of He111 A1+JM sold on eBay about ten years ago
Hello,
For profiling purposes, I'm seeing the source of this photo, sold about ten years ago on eBay. It is carries the full code of A1+JM, and other images confirm that this carried a 4 Staffel unit insignia on both sides of the nose. Does anyone perhaps have a better quality copy of this image, perhaps even a copy of the original? This a/c FL in France on 07.06.40. Can anyone help? http://ihra.smugmug.com/photos/i-mR4...-mR4rCBL-S.jpg Last edited by Larry Hickey; 20th June 2015 at 21:09. |

Evening Larry, I have this listed as " forced landed South of Sedan."
Two crew members names mentioned, Uffz Franke and Uffz Karl Christmann. The only photo I have shows the front of the nose with the insignia visible, with a Luftwaffe bod stood on the wing. Sorry I can't provide any further information. Best regs, Steve. |

Steve,
Thanx. Yes that's the photo of the front of this a/c published years ago in "Luftwaffe Embleme" Photo Coll P188 by Karl Ries. Jr. I have that in the DB associated with this a/c. |

Hi Larry, do you have any further information on the crew, perhaps the remaining crew members names or their functions?

Steve,
The EoE LW Loss DB for this one reads: "7 June 1940 Western Front: 4./KG53 Heinkel He111H. Belly-landed south of Sedan (France) badly damaged by fighters. FF Uffz Rudolf Franke, BO Uffz Karl Christmann, and rest of crew unhurt. Aircraft A1+JM 60% damaged but repairable." We have a photo of the full crew with the a/c after the FL, but don't have them all identified. |
