Bf 110 B?

This Bf 110 (VB+TV) given as a C in LEMB lists shows an air intake similar to the B-1 (it is fully armed). However, there is a small air intake above the cowling that does not appear on other B-1s.
Any hint?
Thanks in advance.

Chris

Re: Bf 110 B?

Hi CJE,
the a/c is a Bf110C-1 modified with DB601A engines, new exhausts, no underwing radiators. Stkz 'VB+TB'.

Re: Bf 110 B?

To my eyes, the Stkz. code on the fuselage reads "VB+TV", and the engine does not look like a DB 601 A either, but there I can be corrected.

Re: Bf 110 B?

Different publications describe it as pre-production Bf 110C-04 built by Focke-Wulf or an early Bf 110C during development at the Focke-Wulf factory. It has experimental chin radiators and the oil coolers are moved to the top of the engine cowlings. It is "VB+TV".

Re: Bf 110 B?

A large number, perhaps all 95 Bf 110B aircraft + some of the prototypes were equipped with Jumo 210G engines. Could this be it ??

Re: Bf 110 B?

Bf 110C-2, WNr 3243, StKz VB+TV, built by Focke-Wulf between Sep 39 and Apr 40. Used for trials with longitudinal cooler arrangements between Mar 41 and Oct 42.
