Wilhelm Heidemeyer 10 August 1940

Hi guys

Just perusing Nick Beale's excellent website, and I notice that a Bf109 pilot recorded as 'Wilhelm Heidemeyer' crashed his aircraft into a gunsite, with several casualties.

I would appreciate more information, please.

Cheers
Brian

Re: Wilhelm Heidemeyer 10 August 1940

Lt Wilhelm Heidemeier was with I/JG 53 (2/JG 53 from memory). On 9 Aug 40, a Bf 109 E-1 force-landed at Guernsey, no pilot details. Apparently this ac hit a Flak position killing 3 and injuring 2 and the pilot badly injured. If so, there is no cas report for him. Can confirm he was a Fw with 2/JG 53. One kill (31 May 40) and was commissioned only to be killed in Jul 41. I have one photo of him as a Lt and he appears to have scars to his head
