![]() Hi!
KG 1 flew He 177s on the Eastern Front in the period from May to July 1944, operating from the East Prussian airfields of Prowehren and Sassberg. Its most successful mission appears to have been the destruction of the Velikie Luki rail hub on June 18th, 1944. Alfred Price states that they also flew low level anti-tank sorties during the Soviet summer offensive. Does anyone have any other information on KG 1's operations? The use of heavy bombers as tank busters seems to me as rather unconventional ![]() Jack Last edited by Jack Sanders; 16th April 2006 at 13:57. |
