Captured Hurricane GZ-X N2533

Hi Guys spotted these three pictures of a captured Hurricane. It would be interesting to know the background on this one. Certainly looks flyable! Possibly was used for evaluation. Apologies if this has been discovered before.

It would be interesting to know what the writing says on the rear of the photos. States as connection with 9/JG26 (3 Gruppe)

Kind Regards

Re: Captured Hurricane GZ-X N2533

Hi

The info in Air Britain and Fighter Command Losses says that N2533/Sgt Jones was on an afternoon patrol over Le Treport and went missing in the Fecamp area after a combat with Hs126.

Re: Captured Hurricane GZ-X N2533

11 June 1940 32 Squadron, Manston Hurricane N2533. Damaged by return fire from Hs126 during wing patrol over Dieppe and forced-landed near Montreuil 2.00 p.m. Sergeant Eric Jones unhurt. Aircraft GZ*X a write-off.
Jones landed in the middle of an advancing German spearhead but managed to evade immediate capture, obtained civilian clothes, and joined a party of refugees heading for Arras. After a series of narrow escapes he eventually reached Carteret where he commandeered a small boat and sailed to the Channel Island of Alderney only to find it in enemy hands. He was finally captured there on 7 July.

Re: Captured Hurricane GZ-X N2533

Well I know that things disappear once the auction ends but they are worth saving, so hopefully the other Larry who posts on here will save them for his european aircraft losses project.

Incidentally, the Hurricane shows little in the way of damage, so perhaps the pilot was hoping to sort it out before realising.

Larry,

Rest assured we captured these--three of eight photos we have the EoE Photo DB of this aircraft. It will almost certainly be one of our color profile a/c.

The other Larry,
