Re: B 17 Kransberg 7 May 1944

How sure are you of the date? There were a lot of crashes in that area on 12 May 1944, for example.

Peglar,

When looking for an answer, I (also) found 12 May 1944 to be worth a better look, without dismissing 7 May in your question.

This website gives quite some B-17 losses in the Usingen/Bad Camberg/Bad Nauheim area on 12 May 1944, with 452nd BG in particular.

Perhaps it gives you a starting point.

Scroll down to bottom: http://fliegerschicksale.de.tl/12-.-...4-Verluste.htm

Grüss,

Good evening !

May 7th, 1944, doesn't indicate such an event in the area. May 12th, 1944, is a better day for a search in the regional area. Since Kransberg is a part of the community of Usingen, I can provide you with a P-51 at Hundstadt (Usingen Town), USAAF s/n 43-3634 P-51 MUSTANG.

But what about Kamberg (sounds like Kranbsberg) and the collision of two B-17 at about 12:15 hrs in the area ?.
