I have the same WNr(3182) for the Bf 109E-1 flown by Ltn Hans Bethel(Stab JG 52)and lost in colission with Hurricane near Stapelhurst(pilot POW)on Sep 15, 1940.

This second must be wrong.

Well spotted Daniel, not the first time the Luftwaffe Loss records have made a mistake with the WNr. It also appears the report of a collision with another Bf109 is also in error

Stab I/JG52.
Messerschmitt Bf109E (3182). Lost control following collision with another Bf109 during free-lance sortie over Kent. Crashed at Dering Wood, Biddenden, near Tenterden, Kent. Lt. Hans Berthel (F) baled out and captured at Bounds End Farm, Staplehurst, Kent. Aircraft a write-off.

Jochen has it as 3183 for Berthel. Maybe numerical blindness by someone?
