149 Squadron July 1940
Hi guys
Another for the experts! On the night of 19/20 July, the crew of a 149 Squadron Wellington claimed two night fighters shot down (according to Larry Donnelly's The Other Few I've a copy of 149's ORB for July, and it gives no indication of which crew. Can anyone help, please? Cheers Brian |

Re: 149 Squadron July 1940
Hi Brian
It seems claims were made by 2 crews. 3 Group Appendices Captain Sgt Sayers: Attacked by ME.110 over North Sea at 14000' E.A. believed shot down. Captain F/O G-Jones: Attacked by ME.110 over North Sea on outward journey. Burst by rear gunner point blank range. E.A. dived towards sea. Cheers Peter |

Re: 149 Squadron July 1940
Many thanks Peter
I've now been able to establish crews/serial numbers etc, but now seek more on Sgt Sayers and his gunner Sgt Cannon (Wellington R3164). Does anyone have first names/initials for these two? Cheers Brian |
