Col. Raymond T. Lester - DNB July 1943 - P-40 - Egypt
Col. Raymond T. Lester (O-018555) of the (USAAF) 20th Weather Squadron, Cairo, Egypt disappeared on an administrative flight between Cairo and Luxor on 5 July 1943, only to be found dead several days later.
His crashed aircraft was a P-40, no serial known. The "usual" crash websites (aviationarchaeology, accident-report...) make no reference to this loss. Would Weather Squadrons like the 20th have had their own aircraft? Thanks for any info. Regards, Leendert |

Thanks, but had seen link indeed.
Just wondering if weather squadrons in that Mid-East theater would have had an air component. Or was P-40 loaned from some Headquarters pool? Regards, Leendert |
