Re: Alexander WERBA

It think the place of the shoot down was near the airfield at Cuers, France around 11:00 am.

According to my datas , this is not the result of an air combat but an accident.

Re: Alexander WERBA

Sorry I made a mistake. I confused with another date. Just a few years I had worked on Werba's death. Here's what I can say about this story. January 27, 1944, at 10:55, two patrols of 4 "spitfire" of the 52th FG are flying over "Le Muy". One goes north, the other goes to the airfield of Cuers. Lt Cromwell and Lt Beedle see some fighters take off from the airfield and attack them. The FW 190 of Feldwebel Werba (2./JG2) is hit and crashes on the track. Both "spitfire" will be shot down by the Ofw. Lemke (1./JG 2).

MACR 2225 & 2226.
