Re: Hauptmann von Boltenstern
Elia,
John Varco and peter Cornwell produced a book called Zestorer "The Messerschmitt 110 and its Units in 1940" Page 170 has a picture of von Boltenstern as an Oblt. and an explanation for his loss - "As Erprobungsgruppe 210 neared the coast, British fighters appeared below them positioning for an attack.Unaccountably, von Boltenstern attempted to bunt to their level and engage, a dangerous manouvre at the height that the Bf 110s were flying. he failed to pull out and simply dived straight into the Channel without a shot being fired." Now this is at variance with the de Zeng and Stankey notes. The above book was published in 1995 so more up to date information may now be available. Both John and Peter frequent this board and may be able to comment.

Re: Hauptmann von Boltenstern
I would go with John & Peter in this case especially due to John's book on ErprGr 210

Re: Hauptmann von Boltenstern
My recollection is that the details as published in Zerstorer came from surviving eye-witness account(s) from veterans that John VASCO & myself contacted and/or interviewed during our research.
