Re: Ju188 Defection 2/5/45

Hi alanatabz,

From Asisbiz's Luftwaffe Loss Register:

"02-05-1945 Junkers Ju 188 A-3 Lufttorpedostaffel 9./III./KG 26 Vaernes 4N WNr 0190335 1H+AT Deserting 5 persons 100% Oblt R. Kunze (I) 0-5-0-0 Britain Lan/on airfield Fraserburgh"

From deZeng & Stankey:

"KUNZE, Rolf (DOB: 06.04.23) o2.05.45 Oblt and pilot in 9./KG 26, POW in Ju 188 (1H+AT) that defected from Trondheim-Vaernes to RAF Station Fraserburgh/Scotland"

Unfortunately, I do not know the names of the other four persons.

best regards,

Jim Geens

This is also covered off by A-I-2(g) Report Serial No. 270. Stkz is given as KQ+GH. No details of crew given.
