Ofw Rolf Schwingel - Fahnenjunker?
According to the excellent "Angels Eight" by David Clark a Fw190 flown by Ofw Rolf Schwingel was lost on 20 July 1944. However searching
http://www.aircrewremembered.com/Kra...e/?q=SCHWINGEL it can be seen that Schwingel had risen to Obltn by 1945. I assume he may have been an officer-aspirant in 1944, but can anyone confirm this? He seems remarkably proficient to have become an Oberleutnant at just 20 years of age with less than a year of combat behind him. regards Keith |

Re: Ofw Rolf Schwingel - Fahnenjunker?
His rank on 20 July 1944 was Ofhr. not Ofw. So is the rank of Oblt. in March 1945 not impossible.
