loss 142 Sqn Wellington DF550, 16-17.9.1942

Dear all,

During the 16-17 September 1942 Essen raid, 142 Squadron Wellington DF550 was badly shot about by a night fighter and abandoned near St. Omer, the crewless aircraft belly-landing some 10 km NW of Lumbres. Who can supply me with any details about the encounter with the German night fighter, especially on the place & time of the combat. All five crew members of DF550 survived, three successfuly evading capture.

Thanks for any info,

Theo
