Bf 109 G-6 Wk Nr 16327

Can anyone confirm this is a good number for a G-6 and if so is there a fate? I believe it flew with JG 53

Chris,

There is one published photo for this machine:
Bf 109 G-6/R6 W.Nr. 16 327, JG 53, Castelvetrano, Sicily, Spring 1943. Source: Robert Michulec 1998b, p. 69.

Precise source is Robert Michulec, Monografie Lotnicze Messerschmitt Me 109 cz.5, 1998, p. 69.

Cheers
Marc

Hello Chris,

to the fate: the airfield Sciacca was evacuated on 13 July 1943, leaving behind eleven destroyed Bf 109 fighters including the Werk-Nr. 16327 of the 9./JG 53.
Source: JFV Vol. 11/II page 278.

Leo

Maybe a prop change and this identified the ac to which it was being fitted?

Interestingly, the blades do look to be slightly cropped. Possible that there was some minor damage and it was quickly marked while going through the workshop.
