Pilot Help

Hi

This is my first post to this forum, so hello to all. I have recently bought and am researching a large grouping to a guy who was a pilot with VMSB 144 from 1943 and later VMTB 454 (1944 onwards). This is probably a long shot but I was wondering if any body could help me ID a unit that appears in one of the pictures (VMF???) The writing on the back of this one is "1944 Frank Simonds" Many thanks for your help.
