Hello!
I am trying to find more info regarding the Crash of B24D 41-11842 Q, Oct 3, 1942, 415th BS, 98th BG. 1. Plane Crashed into Mountain N Beirut, Lebanon Pliot and crew of 8 KIA. I can't any info regarding where it really crashed and more, with the info i got. Managed to find out this though: Crew, listed as KIA KENNEDY, ROBERT E. 1/Lt O-430970, Where is RE Kennedy buried? KRIEDT, ALTON R. 2/Lt O-437609 ? ? ? ? Who was the 9th crew member? ALLEN, ROBERT N. 2/Lt O-728154 SENIW, JEROME 2/Lt O-724228 BORDO, CARMI A. S/SGT 11038602 ROSENBERGER, OSCAR L. SGT 35350181 RAKAUSKAS, EDWARD J. S/SGT 11033854 HUBBARD, Jr, FRANCIS S. S/SGT 11046268 2. I dont have the book The Pyramidiers, and i wonder if this crew is listed there to confirm my findings? From Christopher Shores book A History of the Mediterranean Air War Vol page 680, plane name is called "Ready and Willing". I don't know it that name still is correct? or conflict with other serial number still within 98th BG? Sources: Taracopp Findagrave Fold3 Last edited by JohanSWE; 4th January 2020 at 16:54. |

Re: Crash B24D 41-11842 Oct 3, 1942, 98th BG
My copy of the DPMO loss list says "MAY INDICATE CREMATION OR BURIAL AT SEA (SEE IDPF)" for Robert E Kennedy. Initially buried in El Alia Cemetery, but final disposition was "According to NOK".
Ninth crew member was Sgt Roy M Sumner, Jr, 34088691. Only crash location I have is north of Beirut, Lebanon. The IDPF of one of the crew would probably give a more accurate location, but I don't have them (very time consuming to try to get them). I don't know where Chris found the aircraft name. Probably in some British records I don't have, and he probably doesn't have a copy of the original, just his notes. Enjoy! Frank.
