He219 Westerland/Sylt

Hello all,

German aircraft that went to the UK and USA for evaluation are wellknown and published. For my He219 research project I would like to know about sources that could reveal the Werkenummer/Stammkennzeichen of the 45 He219's that were found at Westerland/Sylt. Some of these can be seen on photo's but from these only a few Werkenummer are known.

Does anyone know of detailed inventory lists made, perhaps by Intelligence Officers of the Army units occupying the airfield? How detailed are the records of the disarmament units?

Any suggestion is most welcome! Many thanks in advance!

It's many years since I looked Air Disarmament Wing records and they were mostly concerned with totals, not individual aircraft. I remember one file saying something like "It was decided right away that Bf 109s and Fw 190s were of no interest" but they had long lists of Ju 52 Werk Nummern because transport aircraft were so useful to the occupying forces.

Hello Nick,

Thanks for responding, as you see I tried other channels to see whether the Holy Grail could found from another perspective. Perhaps army records of the troops occupying Westerland will be worthwile an attempt.

All the best! Marcel
