B-17 and B-24 Combats

Attached are part of a series found in the late Dr Alfred Price's collection. The B-17 being shot down is stated as being from 447th BG on 29 Apr 44 by Uffz Willi Maximowitz of Sturmstaffel 1. There is nothing on the B-24 while the damaged B-17 is stated as being 457th BG. Can anyone confirm or deny or add any more information?

Hi Chris. No.3 is 43-38594 "Lady B Good" 749 / 457, probably after landing in Belgium after Berlin mission.

B-24

The photograph in the middle (Convair B-24) looks like a B-24 under fire by a Fw 190 from a Sturmstaffel (Assault Squadron) firing 30 mm cannon (combat footage). Special ammo, particularly effective, IIRC.

At the time Luftwaffe people mentioned "Convair" and "Boeing" rather than B-24 and B-17.

J-Y Lorant certainly knows a lot more.

Re: B-17 and B-24 Combats

The first two look like stills from footage from a Wochenschau newsreel and reused inter alia by the episode 12 of The World at War: "Whirlwind: Bombing Germany (September 1939–April 1944)"
