Nightfighter radar
Does anyone know when the first Luftwaffe requirement for a nightfighter radar was issued? I understand that it was in Autumn 1940 but I was hoping to narrow that down at least to a month, if not to a specific date.

Re: Nightfighter radar
Hello
According to Fritz Trenkle in "Bordfunkgeräte - Vom Funksender zum Bordradar" and "Die deutschen Funkmeßverfahren bis 1945", the first request from the RLM to the industry was issued in February 1940. External antennas were prohibited, but the first tests of what will become the Liechtenstein with the "forbidden" external antennas occured in April 1940, on a He 111. Regards Jean Schreiber |
