Emblem to Identify

Hi. Can anyone identify the unit with this emblem on a Ju52. Looks like it a cartoon parachutist. Mike

Re: Emblem to Identify

A different version of this can be found in Ketley, Barry: Luftwaffe Emblems 1939 - 1945, Manchester: Crécy Publishing, Ltd., 2012, ISBN 9 780955 426834. Page 106, Emblem No. 479.

The caption reads: "KGrzbV 101 - A yellow parrot with a German soldier seated on its tail, carrying a rifle in its claws. March 1940 - December 1941. Ju 52/3m." However, the emblem drawn shows a dark blue shield with a green parrot.

So the emblem of each Staffel of KGr. z.b.V. 101 may have differed somewhat.

L.

Re: Emblem to Identify

Thank you Larry this is an image of the actual emblem, of which I believe was a later incarnation of 3 Staffel or of the whole unit. The emblem 1.KGrzbv was a yellow snorting winged donkey or horse, I am not certain if 2 Staffel had an emblem.

Re: Emblem to Identify

Hi. I had loooked at the emblem in Ketley but there were too many detail differences besides the colours for me to make the association. Thanks for all the responses.
