Lipert's claims against USAAF

Helmut Lipfert claimed three American planes during his wartime career. Could any one specify whow he shot down or at least to what units his victims might have belonged?

127 11.06.1944 9:45 B-17 II./JG 52 Tateroi
128 24.06.1944 9:42 B-24 II./JG 52 Stefanesti
145 31.08.1944 10:20 P-51 II./JG 52 Löwes

Do this claims have any substantial background from American side?

TIA,
Nikita

Re: Lipert's claims against USAAF

Further clarification

(1) B-17 42-5833 flew w/ 97BG,15AF and would be the only B-17 to apply to Lipfert's claim,at least on the MACR database (which does have mistakes).

(2) The B-24s---12 lost by the 15th AF this date.Lots of candidates

(3) The P-51 was one of 4 P-51s lost by the 52nd FG by JG-52.

Re: Lipert's claims against USAAF

Nikita, did you also check some VVS-claims by Lipfert? His claims are "unusual" good in identification of planetype (when it comes to fighters), I think due to his style of fighting.

Because I know his book since I was 8 years old, I have a special interest in him.

What more could you find out?

Yes, I have checked some claimes of Lipfert. Sorry to disappoint you but Lipfert has usual misidentification problems as other German pilots. Ecpecially it deals with Yak-1, Yak-7, Yak-9 and Lagg-3 types. You may look in the archive on TOCH and find the case when Lipfert claimed Boston and appeared to be transport Li-2...

Re: Lipert's claims against USAAF

Thanks! About this "special general" transport and the story from his book I read already. But this is "just" a misidentification, so fully acceptable IMHO as the A/C was really destroyed.

Did you find cases of unjustified claims by Lipfert? Where is this TOCH-archive?

Yes, there are some cases. Lipfert overclaimed sometimes but I should say not so hastily as Hartmann did. However this is a subject of separate article or even book...
