Re: B-17 loss No. 338283 ?
Hello Jens,
See Joseph F. Baugher's website: "USAAS-USAAC-USAAF-USAF Aircraft Serial Numbers--1908 to Present" http://home.att.net/~jbaugher/usafserials.html Go to his page: "1943 Serial Numbers 43-5109 to 43-52437" http://home.att.net/~jbaugher/1943_2.html Scroll down to see this: 43-38274 through 43-38473: Boeing B-17G-85-BO Fortress 38283 (95th BG, 334th BS) lost Mar 17, 1945. MACR 13111 There is a photo of 43-38283 and some more information here: http://www.95thbg-horham.com/page46.html There are short summaries of the 95th Bomb Group on these sites: http://usaaf.com/8thaf/bomber/95bg.HTM http://libraryautomation.com/nymas/usaaf4.html There is a summary of USAAF operations on 17 March 1945 here: http://www.usaaf.net/chron/45/mar45.htm Paul Webber |
