Modeldad will become famous soon enough
Re: Photos + 9-19

Two pictures worth cleaning up. Looks like an R-1; B-1 with wing tanks. And how about that offset cowl on the Ju 52. Don't see many from that angle

Some nice images today.
Second Me 109 is interesting with the double chevron plus white number.
Junkers G 24 with floats.
"Hitler´s" Fw 200 with three light colored engine cowlings.
Yes, that offset cowling on the Ju 52 is very interesting too.
I guess the Ju 87 Musschi may belongs from the photo album, unfortunately I have been unable to open in home or work, images hosted in AOL when opening the seller´s page in eBay...

A big thanks, Edwest, for some excellent photos.

The Arado 96 photos are superb.

I did note the photo of Erich Hartmann in the portrait section. I wonder if there is a member of the Board that hasn't ever seen it in print!

Re: Photos + 9-19

Modeldad,

yes it's another one of 'those' views that had me wondering about the engine-mounting angle - a really good one as well. I'm now pretty sure that it is largely an asymmetry of the cowling (Heller got this right, I think the 1/48 Revell cowlings look close) but there is still strong possibility that engines, on some aircraft were aligned with flight. Another look at the outward angle of the Ju 52 nacelle suggests that it is not the 6 degrees of wing sweepback but about half that (ie. about 3 degrees) - not much left to point the engine straight ahead and hardly discernible in photos anyway if not. There are photos (of genuine Luftwaffe Ju 52s) that definitely show the outward cant though. I've just noticed on the IPMS Stockholm site that the Swedish Ju 52s had its engines (can't recall what type) aligned with flight angle. On what were the authors of the 'In Action' book basing their statement that the outward (?) cant was eliminated?

Cheers

GrahamB
