Re: Larry Hickey books
Jukka,
Yesterday I spent 13 straight hours proofing the last 5 chapters of the 22nd BG book. It is now in final layout and will go to the printer next Thursday. Should be available for shipping about mid to late June. 600+ pages, about 900 photos, 48 color profiles, something like 19 maps, artwork, etc. Like Warpath only 1/3 larger. Has huge appendices. 38th, 43rd and 312th histories in advance state of completion. One or two will be out late this year, and rest early next. 3rd BG book (2 volumes) is for next year. Then begins the "Eagles Over Europe"" series. Larry Hickey |

Re: Larry Hickey books
The 22nd Bomb Group History, "Revenge of the Red Raiders," went to the printers yesterday, 27.4. It should be available for filling orders by late-June. I'll announce details of prices and shipping schedules later. We're going to be doing a major update of our website during the next month, and book orders can be taken on line from that. I'll announce when the website change is made.
More details later. Larry Hicey |

Re: Larry Hickey books
Last week I rode in The Collings Foundation B-24 "Witchcraft". During takeoff I was seated beside an older gentleman who was a B-24 waist gunner in the 22nd Bomb group. He flew 12 missions from the Phillipines and never saw a Japanese aircaft. Later he flew 12 more missions inKorea as a B-29 gunner. He fired once, at a Mig 15.
He is a retired commercial pilot/ instructor. In his 80s he acted much younger than is 80+ years. When the B-24 engines started, he grinned ear to ear and said "brings back memories". He made the flight memorable for me. As a result, I am looking forward to this new book. |

Re: Larry Hickey books
Due to various production problems the book is somewhat delayed, but is now due back from the printer in about eight weeks. I will post specifics soon, and will keep this board aprised of the exact shipping date for copies once this is exactly known. The book is huge, in excess of 600 pages. Among other things it provides details of all 354 B-26s, B-25s and B-24s that served with the 22nd, their crews, nicknames and fates. Photos of most of them are included, but the aircraft info is only a tiny part of the book. The book includes a full and complete history of the unit and all of its combat missions as well. All aircraft losses have been matched with sepecific info on the Japanese side for the shoot downs, includings units and names of pilots responsible. Nothing like this has ever been done before for a specific unit for the entire war.

Re: Larry Hickey books
Any update of the site yet? Wasn´t May 2006 a planned month of updating?

Re: Larry Hickey books
The 22nd Bomb Group history is finally ready to be printed--624 pages, 964 photos, including 65 in color, 48 full color profile paintings (with 13 additional view inserts), 5 color paintings, 21 color patches, 16 maps, and about a third of a million words. It is huge! It will retail for US $90.00, plus shipping.
Had many problems with the electronic pre-press set up, but the book has finally passed "pre-flight" and the proofs are expected back from the printer within the next few days. Assuming no further delays there, the book should be ready for shipment from the US in about 4 weeks--possibly a little less. Our next project is get our website revised so that book orders can be take by charge card directly over the internet. Updates on histories of 3rd, 38th, 43rd and 312th BG and "Eagles Over Europe" Projects will also be posted on the website at that time. Regards to all who have waited so patiently for this book, |
