RAF Fighter operations - 2 Sept 1942 - Dutch coast
The Flakkommandeur Vlissingen (Flushing) report of 2 Sept 1942 mentions that around 09.15 hrs local time two Spifires had attacked a small German coastal patrol boat, with two crew slightly injured. The a/c were engaged by Flak (8./202 near Domburg) and hits were claimed on one of them.
Also later that day, around 19.40 hrs local, Spitfires were reported in the Vlissingen/Flushing area. I wonder if it can be traced what RAF Spitfire Squadrons were active in Dutch/SW Holland coastal waters on 2 September 1942 to match the German Flak-account? I noticed on the Spitfire production list that AR423 of No. 121 Squadron had Cat B Operations damage, but not sure if related with above. ORB offers no details. Any leads welcome, thanks. Regards, Leendert |
