aviator named "Low" - 22-23 july 1944 Belgium
Hi,
I'm trying to locate a crash of RAF Bomber probably in Belgium during the night of 22 - 23 july 1944. An aviator of this one was found in a field between Mons and Binche ( Belgium ) on 23 july 1944. He used its parchute and he had inhured his foot. His nickname was "Low" and could be a Canadian. He was helped and hidden by civilians. Thanks a lot. |

Re: aviator named "Low" - 22-23 july 1944 Belgium
Low is not short for anything
Lowe is a surname Lou is short for Louis The only other possibility is that Low was quite tall and got is nickname accordingly Martin |

With such limited information, chances are slim unless our Belgian members can suggest anything

Re: aviator named "Low" - 22-23 july 1944 Belgium
There were several RAF bomber losses near Kortrijk/Courtrai in the night of 20/21 July 1944 with several evaders, however more to the SW of Belgium (West-Flanders).
There was a B-24 (42-100365) crash near Harveng, not too far from Mons-Binche. This one had four evaders. Date of 12 July 1944 on the other hand too early to make a match. See https://www.458bg.com/crewquirk.htm Regards, Leendert |
