Dornier 217 damaged 11 April 1942

Hi Guys

In Air-War 1942 part 1 John Foreman has made a (hopefully) printing error since he lists WNr 1038
as being damaged twice.
1) U5+AN 30%
2) U5+KS 15%
Both aircraft cannot have had the same WNr.

Hopefully one WNr is correct, but what was the other one?

Cheers
Stig

Stig,

Ulfe Balke records U5+KS as 1173 (Do 217E-4) in the appendix to Der Luftkrieg in Europa 1941-45.

To confirm 1038 was damaged in accidents with II./KG 2 12 Aug and 31 Oct 41 as well as Apr 42 before being destroyed 7 Mar 44 with 2./101. 1173 was damaged again with III./KG 2 on 4 Jun 42 before being damaged more seriously with II./KG 100 7 May 43

Thanks Guys

I don't have Balke's books. Missed them since I thought they were a general overview of
the air war in Europe....

Chris
Thanks for the extra details as well!

Cheers
Stig
