RAF target in Germany, 1940.

Hello,

Could anyone please tell me where in Germany 'Ostermoor' might be found on a map ? The name appears in a June 1940 RAF document concerning a night bombing attack on an oil refinery (target 'A.19') located at 'Ostermoor'. It is possibly a corruption of the real name.

Regards,

Martin Gleeson.

Please don't think I'm being flippant, but a lot of times the actual search term you use on Google makes a great difference. What did you actually Google? Try:
Where is Ostermoor

Re: RAF target in Germany, 1940.

Hi Andy,

When I am looking for any location I usually begin with Wikipedia, which then gives a Google Maps location and link. This works at least 99% of the time for me. A straightforward Google search after that if Wikipedia fails. The nearest Google took me was to Cuxhaven, but I could not find it near there on hardcopy or digital maps. Of course, Ed West's links showed it was across the bay, near Brunsbuttel.

Regards,

Martin.
