Death of Werner Molders

Hi Guys

Werner Molders was supposed to have been killed as a passenger flying to the funeral of Ernst Udet(21st November 1941 1100 hrs), yet everything suggests his death was on 22nd November 1941 i.e the next day. I was unable to find the crash details on my losses mikrofilms.

Does anybody have the exact crash details please i.e aircraft works number, crew, unit and especially date/time of crash ?

Molders does not appear to have intended the funeral looking at photos, so are the dates wrong/returning but not attending something is amiss.

Kind Regards

P.S

Sorry when I use "O" umlaut message going into a spas attack !

Johannes

Re: Death of Werner Molders

What I have:

In middle of August 1941, Oberst Mölders became the Inspekteur der Jagdflieger but on returning to Germany for a funeral on 22 November 1941 in a He 111 H-6, Wk Nr 4513, 1G+BT of 9./KG 27, flying into fog, the aircraft then suffered engine problems and crashed at Breslau-Schöngarten killing Mölders, Oblt Georg Kolbe (F) and Ofw Gerhard Hobbie (BM) with Ofw Arthur Tenz (BF) and Maj Paul Wenzel, Mölders Adjutant, being injured

I have the last known photo of Moelders and Kolbe, taken just prior to leaving the KG27 airfield. Let me know if you're interested in it.

When you need an umlaut, locate german typeit on your search engine.

Re: Death of Werner Molders

Thanks Guys

Molders missed the funeral, but pressed on regardless....at great cost. Regarding umlaut I can do ä(228), but it's only the "O"(246)that freaks-out this one computer !

Thanks again

Johannes
