Lysander L6856
This ac was delivered to 225 Sqn from RAF Sealand 11 Dec 37. In 1940 it was with the Army School of Cooperation at Old Sarum. However, another record says it was written off at Lille Ronchin March 1940 with 4 Sqn. Can someone in the know tell me what is correct?

Re: Lysander L6856
Chris,
I strongly suspect that the Lysander written off during March 1940 in France was L6852, not L6856. The details of its loss on 9 March 1940 on my website match what you have noted. The multiple unit entries on the F.78 for L6856 prove it survived well into 1943. The 225 Squadron F.541 records L6856 in regular use with that unit in late August and September 1940 during its second spell with 225 Sqn. Regards, Martin. https://martinaviationpages.com/ |
