The plural of Geschwader is Geschwader, there's no extra 'n' (except in the dative plural — I learned that at school). Better luck with the rest of the book!

His Alarmstart serie had lot of valuable first hand account so I would recommend them despite the author took some of them as face value to draw his own conclusions.
