Walter Herz,German Cross in Gold Holder

Walter Herz had gotten the German Cross in Gold in 1943 while serving with SG-1. He flew with SG-1 until the end of World War II. How many sorties in total did Walter Herz flew? Was he recommended for the Knight's Cross? What did he do after WWII?
