Re: Luftwaffe loss 29.08.1940
Hi!
I am afraid that this is not much help, but i looked in my books and can tell You where i NOT met these names.... KG 2, 4, 26, 51, 53, 54, 55, 100 and LG 1. Also in "Battle of Britain, then and now" I could not find anything. I have a picture of Georg Ernst, the pilot, You can have a scan of him, but thats it. Maybe this helps You narrow down Your search a little. Best wishes Christian

Re: Luftwaffe loss 29.08.1940
I have a loss of a Ju 88 A-1 WNr. 3116 of Kü.Fl.Gr. 806 lost near Vannes on that date. All crew were killed. 100% damage. But I do not have any names. Since the loss reports for this time perid only gave them for officers not enlisted personnel. The info is from the BA loss reports.

Re: Luftwaffe loss 29.08.1940
I think thats the one Norbert!!
On my picture of the pilot, it says, that he fell near Ploermel, and on the atlas i saw that Ploermel and Vannes are fairly close to each other. On the other hand, i do not know where Guillac is??? If this is between the mentioned places, i think and hope we "nailed" it!!! This is the first time i am a tiny part of something so exciting...hope to hear more opinions on this!!!!! Christian

Re: Luftwaffe loss 29.08.1940
I found Guillac in Google, a small village between Ploermel and Vannes.

Re: Luftwaffe loss 29.08.1940
Quote:
Wilhelm Siepen flew as beobachter and Georg Orth as Bordmecaniker during Spanish Civil War in the AS/88 equipped with He-59 floatplanes, so sounds very reasonable that they later flew at WWII in a Coastal Flight Group like Kü.Fl.Gr.806. Regards Fran |

Re: Luftwaffe loss 29.08.1940
Hi,
KGr806 was based at Nantes (SE of Vannes for 100 km) airfield during this period. From July to August 1940. I've made researches on Luftwaffe occupation of those brittany airfield, in France, specially Vannes, as I was living near for 10 years. Good chance for your researches, I'll check with my freind this WE and post if I found more.
