Re: Ju-88A A6+HH Baumbach

I think Schiffer also published a translated version of this book though I don't remember the title. BTW - this is definitely not Baumbach's machine. He was in KG 30, this machine is from 1.(F)/120, a long-range recon group based in Norway. Two of its usual crew were Knight's Cross winners - pilot Hptm. Helmuth ORLOWSKI and observer Oblt. Fritz HEIDENREICH. The plane itself, Ju 88D-1 WNr. 1067, was destroyed on 7-Jan-42 in a bombing raid, presumably by the RAF.

Thank, I found two photo in Militari XX wieku.
He had Ju-88A-4 early or A-5. These Ju-88 had identical control surface and I haven´t seen Baumbach's plane from the front.

The same Major Orlowski who was lost over the Adriatic in November 1943? (He was Kommandeur of FAG 122 at the time).

Re: Ju-88A A6+HH Baumbach

Yup. At least I presume its the same guy.

Ju 88D-1, 430593, ORLOWSKI, Major Helmut (F)/Hilbig, Hptm. Karl-Heinz (B), , Stab (F), 122, , 4U+UH, , , 08-Nov-43, MIA with crew due to enemy fighters., RK, Italien, Gen.Qu.6.Abt. (mfm #12)-Vol.23, , NE of Pescara, 100%, F

Meanwhile -

Ju188F-1, 280216, HEIDENREICH, Hptm. Fritz, , 1.(F), 120, , A6+RH, , , 30-May-44, Staffelkapitan. MIA with crew, cause unknown., RK, Nordsee, via de Zeng, , (Scapa Flow), 100%, F

As I recall Urbanke did an article on one of these guys in an issue of Lw in Focus.
