Emergencylanding Me110 13 August 1940

On the 13th May 1940 a Me110, werkenummer 3344, 3U+EK, of 2/ZG26 made a emergency landing on a field near Haler in the S.part of Holland. I would like to know the mission, crewlist etc. All info is welcome. In total three Me110's crashed of 26ZG that day in Holland.

Thanks in advance,
Adrian

Re: Emergencylanding Me110 13 August 1940

Adrian/ Remi,
My information states that this a/c was flying as escort for the fighter bombers of Erprobungsgruppe 210.
The a/c was actually coded U8+EK W.Nr 3344, unfortunately the crew names weren't listed.
The a/c forced landed at Hunsel / Molenbeercel, Netherlands.

Hope this helps,
Steve.

Remi/Steve,

Re: Emergencylanding Me110 13 August 1940

lancaster,

In 1940, I. Gruppe of ZG 26 carried the unit code of U8, not 3U.

As both crew members in U8+EK were unwounded, no return would be made on a Namentliche Verlustmeldung. Also, at that time, crew names were rarely shown on the Quartermaster's returns of aircraft lost/damaged. It will be very difficult to track down the crew in the light of this situation.

Re: Emergencylanding Me110 13 August 1940

Dear all,

According to the KTB of Schiphol 4 Bf.110's of III/ZG23 made an emergency landing at the former Dutch airfield Buiksloot, just North of Amsterdam. One of these turned over durimg which one crewmember was injured.

"Am 13.8.40 sind 4 Me 110 der III/ZG23 auf Flugplatz Java b.d. Trockendock-nördl Amsterdam-notgelandet. dabei ... 1 Flugzeug über.... Die Machinen ist defekt, Besatzung gerettet. 1 Mitglied von Besatzung ist verletzt. Drei andere Flugzeugen befinden sich auf Flugplatz in Schiphol.
Die Bergung der ... Machinen ist ... ... Fl.H.Kdtr ..."

(Can't read ... yet, have to study one more night on that Sutterlin handwriting)

Does any of you now more about this accident with regard to Werknummer, Kenzeichen or name of the crews?

An yes, I'm fully aware of the (lack of) content of the Losses Returns, but perhaps somebody has just one more piece of info on file?

Thanks in advance,
Hans Nauta

Besatzung ist gerettet. 1 Mitglied der Besatzung ist verletzt. Drei von den Flugzeugen befinden sich auf dem Flugplatz in Schiphol. Your source is the book I did with Peter Cornwell titled 'Zerstörer'; my source is Peter's extensive Battle of Britain research and records which fed into the loss/damage tables in the book.

Many Thanks John.
