Does Ian Allan have a US distributor? I've always had problems with exchange rates & all that---but it sounds like a great deal;

This thread is somewhat misleading.

The company in question is Midland Counties, which seems to be some sort of outlet for Ian Allan (I don't know the exact arrangement). The bargain is being offered by Midland Counties as a shop, not Ian Allan as a publisher. Finding an outlet in the US, does not equal the same bargains as being offered on the online superstore.

Midland Counties has always been one of my favorite suppliers, unfortunately the current Euro-Pound exchange rate makes them less attractive for the moment. But their bargains are always interesting in terms of pricing. It pays to check them out from time to time (at least for European customers).

In general it is still cheapest to by through the bigger outlets like Amazon and Barnes&Noble when new books hit the shelf, as you maximize the discount (depending on publisher - big publishers more discount).

Ian Allan owns Midland Counties bookshop as well as Midland Counties Publishing (e.g. the War Prizes is an MCP book).

Thanks for clearing that up, but AFAIK Midland still functions as a regular bookshop selling books that are not published or distributed by Ian Allan.
