There was a very good article on this incident in the British magazine, "Flypast" by the son of one of the crew on the KLM DC-3.

According to an NCO crew of V/KG40 taken POW in July 1943 a patrol from 14/KG40 came upon what was identified as a ' British courier aircraft ' and shot it down. It was not untill the next day that crews heard that a well known British actor was on board. Chris Goss has covered the incident in his excellent book 'Bloody Biscay'
