Suche nach Fernaufklärungseinheit

Hallo an Alle

John...

Perhaps Klaus does not speak our language, or does so only to a limited extent. I'm sure we all would choose to communicate in a language we are familiar with, in Klaus's case, German. It is also his first posting on the forum, so can we cut him some slack, please?

I'm sure if you asked, someone (better than myself, as my German is very patchy) would be willing to oblige you with a translation.

Regards

Re: Suche nach Fernaufklärungseinheit

I am not a german neither, but I'll give it a try.

Translation:
Hello all,
I am searching since a long time for traces from my father in a recon unit.
( I don't know what 3./(F)33 is, but he already searched for that ) It is quite certain that his father was there ( 3./(F)33 probably ) in 1942/1943 .

In his research he found that his father was on the Jersey isle in februar 1941 and not just for a few days. He was their with a recon unit. He has a dated picture of the shipping in june 1941.
And he has a christmas-card from the end of the year ( so around 25 december 1941 ) and it came from Libia.

His question is: which reconunit has been on those places in that order.
Could it have been the 123. or something in that direction?

Thanks for any hints

End translation

The things between brackets are added by me

Re: Suche nach Fernaufklärungseinheit

I surmised that the poster didn’t know any English and foolishly imagined that a one-line post in German was the quickest way to help. Still, for all those like John who squander their leisure time in the Great Outdoors instead of in German classes, here’s a loose translation – no dictionary to hand - that’ll give you the general idea.
Hallo everyone,
For a long time I’ve been searching for traces of my father in a long-range reconnaissance unit. Until now I was looking at 3.(F)/33. It has turned out to be highly probable that my father was first there from 1942/43 at the earliest.
According to my researches, in 1941 (not just for a few days) my father was an armourer with the ground crew of a long-range reconnaissance unit. I have a photo dated June 1941 of the same outfit shipping-out. At the end of the year, a Christmas card from Libya.
I’m asking for help regarding which long-range reconnaissance unit followed that sequence of deployments in 1941. Could it be FAG 123 maybe?
I’d be grateful for any suggestions.
K. Dietrich
My reply was just a suggestion to start by checking out the recon section of www.ww2.dk

Re: Suche nach Fernaufklärungseinheit

Hello to all! Are active since today in the forum and can no English. Therefore now with an on-line translation program. I hope that I am somewhat more understandable now few. Thus I equal moderator John Beame answered the friendly reference of super. Continue to apply my large thanks for the translations of nod and to Freggel and the greetings through obdl 3945. Property me very been pleased. Now to-ask. I am me meanwhile rather reliably after the narrations my father, who dated photos, more daer at least until 1942 with the 2. 123 was perhaps also somewhat longer. With wwk2 I already informed owing to the reference. I am anyhow strained whether I still more information from this long-range reconnaissance unit can get. Perhaps there is even still any lists of names or ähnkiches to 123. Hopefully I arrive now somewhat better with my English. Owing to and greeting to all Klaus

Dear Klaus,

Forgive me, but I'll have to answer in English.

First of all let me welcome you to our forum.

English may be the Lingua Franca of the Internet, it is not the official language of this forum. Certainly a forum which presents itself as an expert's medium on the subject of the GERMAN LUFTWAFFE must accept German as one possible language of communication. I may not be able to reply in German, but I certainly read it as easily as an english post.

Actually I'd personally prefer a well written german post than a bad internet translation!!!

To make a long story short (and in bad german to boot, but I'll try anyway):

Bitte schreiben Sie weiter ins Deutsche, wir können (oder sollten) es selbst übersetzen.

Ruy, Your German is better than my Dutch

It would be a pleasure for me, if I could help to translate the posts of Klaus.
As it concerned me too, I am familiar with the wish to get infos about the war time career of our fathers.

Für Klaus,
es wäre ein Vergnügen für mich, wenn ich bei Übersetzungen ins Englische helfen kann. Ich kenne den Wunsch, etwas über den Vater im Krieg herauszubekommen aus eigener Erfahrung.

Best wishes
Robert
