Leutnant Harald Jung, I./JG20 and 4./JG51
Hello,
I am researching the crash of PDU Spitfire N-3069 flown by F/O Wheatley. He was shot down March 22, 1940 by Leutnant Harald Jung of I./JG20 east of Arnhem, Netherlands. Jung went shortly after this to JG51. It was his first kill. Wheatley baled out but his chute didn't open and he fell to his death. He was buried with full military honours by German forces. Jung survived the war and went to the Bundesluftwaffe and retired as a Oberstleutnant. In an effort to get all the facts and figures I'm still looking for a photograph of Harald Jung. Hopefully someone is able to help me or point me in a direction of finding one. Thanks in advance for any help. Kind regards from the Netherlands Sander www.arga-nl.nl |

Sander,
Please contact me at my TOCH private message box. I have a photo of Jung wearing his just-awarded Iron Cross standing by the tail of his aircraft, WNr. 3493, showing a single white victory tab taken just after this incident. Regards, |
